As of 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, the Montana Dept. of Health and Human Services reported 134 new COVID-19 cases, the second greatest increase in a single day; the greatest number reported in a single day to date was 145 cases reported yesterday, July 15. There 2 new active cases in neighboring county Fergus. Neighboring counties Cascade and Meagher also have active cases, 24 and 3, respectively.


As of Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 10 a.m. Central Montana Health District is reporting two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fergus County. Both cases are in 20-29-year-old males; however, the cases are not believed to be related. Both are believed to be contracted in-state. Contact investigations are being done by public health and anyone identified as a contact will be notified by a public health nurse.

STATEWIDE OVERVIEW: Since March 2020, there have been 2,231 COVID-19 cases reported in Montana and 127,840 tests have been completed by the State. Of the known cases, 1,226 are active. There were 4,082 tests administered in a 24-hour period. There have been 35 deaths, and there are currently 37 active hospitalizations. A total of 36 tests have been conducted for Judith Basin, one of which is pending and the others came back negative.


Of the 134 new cases, 47 are in Gallatin, 45 are in Yellowstone County, 7 are in Lewis and Clark, 6 are in Carbon and Park each, 5 are in Flathead, 3 are in Cascade, 2 are in Fergus and Custer each, and Blaine and Richland each reported one case.


Counties with currently active cases are, in order, Yellowstone (440 active cases), Gallatin (284), Lake (69), Missoula (60), Big Horn (55), Lewis and Clark (49), Lincoln (33), Cascade (24), Flathead (23), Custer (19), Madison (19), Silver Bow (17), Teton (15), Carbon (14), Hill (13), Park (11), Richland (9), Garfield (9), Ravalli (6), Jefferson (9), Rosebud (6), Stillwater (6), Broadwater (5), Beaverhead (5), Glacier (5), Granite (4), Meagher (3), Sanders (3), Roosevelt (2), Deer Lodge (2), Wibaux (1), Fallon (1), Sheridan (1), Blaine (1), Sweet Grass (1).


Blaine County recorded its first COVID-19 case today, bringing the total number of counties with COVID-19 to 45 counties (active and/or recovered cases); 11 counties in Montana have not reported cases of COVID-19, Judith Basin being one. The others counties WITHOUT KNOWN cases are Choteau, Phillips, Petroleum, Daniels, McCone, Prairie, Powder River, Carter, Powell and Mineral.
