Judith Basin County Fair to proceed

The Judith Basin County Fair will take place in August, but with COVID-19 related precautions in place. How the fair proceeds will depend on Montana’s phase of re-opening at the time. The biggest change is the addition of an online option for the livestock sale. File photo

The Judith Basin County fair will go on this August. Depending on the phase of re-opening the state is in, there will be a few modifications.

If Montana is still in Phase 2, the Judith Basin County Extension, working in cooperation with the Fair Board, will continue the minor adjustments to the schedule to comply with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State of Montana.

If Montana has reached Phase 3, the fair will proceed more traditionally, resembling past years.

If Montana has regressed to Phase 1, the Judith Basin Extension will implement the more broad changes outlined under its Phase 1 plan, which will be detailed at later date, only if necessary.

The schedule will look the same as previous years, but the biggest change will be the addition of an online platform for the livestock sale. Frontier Live Sale will host the online sale, and Shobe Auction will sell the animals live. Either live or online purchase is possible.

As Judith Basin gets closer to the fair, plans will be advertised and finalized.

Please call the Judith Basin County Extension office with any questions, or for more details, at 406-566-2277 Ext. 104.

Editor’s Note: Watch for more to come as related to the phase of re-opening. Currently, the Judith Basin County Extension has prepared a detailed plan for the fair to proceed in all of the three phases of re-opening, thus ensuring it will proceed.
