Urick signs with Montana Tech

Belt's Dani Urick makes it official by signing her letter of intent to play basketball at Montana Tech next year.

The Lady Huskies of Belt have been one of the most prominent teams in Class C sports for the past several years. A Lady Husky who has been a one of the leading forces behind that prominence for the last four years is Dani Urick. Urick is now taking her game to the next level. She will be joining the Lady Orediggers of Montana Tech to play basketball at the collegiate level.

“I chose Tech because I really enjoy the girls on the team, the coaching staff and the school,” said Urick about her decision. “Tech has great facilities and provides an excellent educational opportunity for me.”

While at Belt, Urick scored a total of 1,498 points (14 points per game) throughout her four years. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 3.9 assists. During her four years of playing basketball for Coach Jeff Graham at Belt, she helped the Lady Huskies win two state titles, four conference and district championships and three divisional championships. Urick was an all-conference and all-state performer in basketball all four years at Belt.

During Urick’s four years of basketball, the Lady Huskies had a basketball record of 98-8. The team was 47-1 in District 8C basketball.

Urick is one of those individuals, who also excels in other sports as well as the classroom. She helped lead her team to a state championship in volleyball during her junior year. The Lady Huskies finished second at state to Ennis this year.

Urick has received all-state in volleyball for three years and track and field for three years. She is a premier thrower in the state in the javelin in track and field.

In addition, Urick was named Academic All-State for two years in basketball.

While attending Montana Tech, Urick plans on majoring in business.
